Stacey Stephens is the stationer and designer behind StaceyHolbrook Design — an Atlanta-based company. She’s also my neighbor and eternal Rising Tide Society #TuesdaysTogether buddy.

Stacey works full-time for a fantastic ATL non-profit consulting agency, but back home tucked in her office, she’s making envelope liners, laying out invitations, and shipping to brides all over.

She’s also a student in Copywriting for Creatives.

I got this text the other night:

A few moments later?

Yuuuup. Just redid my about page and the order of pages on my site. Super serious. You’re good, Ash.

My heart swelled — YES! This is what I wanted to happen! I said girl, I need more details. And I can’t wait ’til we walk our dogs together at Kirkwood Dog Park.


“Tell me about yourself & your online business.”

I’m Stacey, owner and founder of StaceyHolbook Design, and I create wedding and event stationery. I’m a big believer in celebrating life’s best moments, and I love hosting a good dinner party. Combined with my love of paper and snail mail, I found a good recipe for invitation design.

I currently have a full-time job and work with SHD on nights and weekends. I’m in my second year (third will start in September!) and my client work has steadily grown.

I work with brides all over the southeast, primarily in Atlanta, Georgia where I live.

“ What was your messaging like before you took Copywriting for Creatives?”

“Messaging was never at the top of my to-do list. There was always something more pressing – client work, photos for my website, emails to respond to. My copy wasn’t bad, but honestly it wasn’t much, either. I had a few strong lines but there were holes.

I’m sure visitors to my site had basic questions about my story, my process, my experience!”

“Got it. So you took the course … what were your goals for amping up your messaging?”

“Entering year 3 of business, my goal is to continue to book an increasing number of clients, specific for wedding invitation design. I knew I needed to put words around my brand’s process and what working with me really looks like … so that’s one thing I wanted to finally figure out.

I also wanted to book more design consultations because I know that after I meet with a client, they’re very likely to book me. (So far, my bookings after in-person consultations are 100%).

“Awesome! So you re-did your site!? Tell me about your new messaging and branded story!”

“I learned the importance of celebration in my brand! Weddings are PARTIES: they are fun, joyous occasions! I want to help my clients remember that, even through the stress and some of the tedious wedding planning.

The course made me realize I DO have a expertise and knowledge to share with my clients! As a newlywed who planned my own wedding, I DEFINITELY understand the stress and time management that my clients are dealing with.

I’m here to lend a helping hand and to bring their vision to life through custom, beautiful stationery.

Copywriting for Creatives is showing me what words and phrases and voice that I’ve always had: the ones that are so important to communicating my brand to my clients.”

“Heart grenade. So what’s been your biggest takeaway from rewriting your website through Copywriting for Creatives?”

“Honestly?? Y’all. You don’t know what you don’t know!

I had NO IDEA how much there was to learn about the basics of copywriting.

This course was not only instantly helpful (I pressed pause during every module to look through my site as my head was spinning with new ideas!), but I know it will continue to be foundational as I solidify my tone and voice, my brand positioning statement, and my external communications with clients.

I feel equipped and knowledgeable about my own company. I will be more well spoken and a better salesperson for my own brand now that I’ve taken the time to define my story.

The modules were extremely helpful and practical.

The fact that they are accessible online at any time is priceless – I know I’ll be tuning back in to brush up on my newfound knowledge!”
