Haden and I grew up together in Montgomery, and when she came to me asking for "old world style" wedding calligraphy for her December wedding, I got weak in the knees! Modern calligraphy met deckled edges for these beauties, all printed by our go-to Southern printer in charcoal flat-print ink. Their custom monogram was stamped on everything from napkins and cups to rehearsal dinner paper.

From our very first phone calls to texts in between, Haden was like a little sister to me ... and yes, I did babysit her way back in the day! First Baptist Church and The Warehouse at Alley station formed a wintery backdrop for her marriage to Beau, and I now count them fellow Georgians as they live on this side of the state line, too!

I cannot thank you enough ... you did an amazing job and are so talented!

You've gotta love a southern double name, right? Mary Michael and her husband remind me of another Samford University couple ... my own husband and I! They figured out they wanted to get married a bit (read: five years) earlier than Wes and I, and what a delight it was to serve them as they invited guests to their wedding and reception at The Club, where my mother had her own bridal shower back in the day!

Mary Michael wanted succulent greens and "J. Crew navy" for her wedding stationery colors, so we printed these in letterpress on fine cotton paper in navy. With so many "M" letters floating around the couple, a single-letter monogram made sense, and a play on the Chi Omega crest was only appropriate for Mary Michael.

Wedding calligraphy and invitation design is so much more fun to piece together for a bride when you know one of your best friends will be shooting it!

My bestie from high school in Montgomery Brooke Glassford of Colorbox Photographers nailed this Moore’s Mill Country Club wedding … and I’m sure it doesn’t help at all that Auburn couple Katelin and Sean are enough to make a photographer’s camera melt. Katelin and I met on my cousin’s bachelorette weekend years ago, and she struck me way back then with her fun-loving attitude (and beauty!). Plus, she and Sean wanted their dog to have a place in the wedding paper lineup and full-calligraphy wedding invitation design–which you know won a gold star of approval from this dog lover. We designed a fully calligraphed suite in copperplate calligraphy font for her wedding at Auburn First Baptist Church and gorgeous reception at Moore's Mill Country Club—complete with a sweet cross marking the top of all the paper!

Ally and Bobby Fine Art Photography made Caroline's wedding suite—and entire wedding at Sardis Presbyterian Church and Mint Museum Randolph wedding venue—just sparkle. Caroline wanted everything super classy and Southern, and it just so happened that she was marrying a gent by the name of Harrison ... the same name of her father AND her brother! It's a fine name, and the CH wedding monogram we custom designed for Caroline letterpressed in light grey was a gracious keepsake ... a sweet groomsman even reached out asking for the monogram for his gift to the couple.

Wedding calligraphy for my sorority sister Jessica's wedding to her groom Eric was a blast—Jessica had a penchant for politics even back at Samford, and the D.C. couple met at a Nationals baseball game and went sailing for their first date ... I mean, does it get more all-American?

Eric & Jamie wedding photographers shot the First Baptist Church of Montgomery wedding, and the wedding reception venue at the Montgomery Visitor's Center was dreamy.

"I knew I wanted her penmanship to play a role in my wedding suite," Jessica said. "Ashlyn not only lended talented calligraphy skills for our invitation programs, but recreated a logo my husband envisioned for our koozies. Ashlyn worked as if she were using it for her own big day!"

Tucked away from Atlanta outside the Lake Oconee, Caroline and Ben got married at Greensboro First United Methodist before heading to wedding reception venue The Stables at Harbor Club ... so helping Caroline out with calligraphy signage for her big day was a blast! Guests made their way passed a hydrangea-topped (is there another way?) wooden sign welcoming them in, and everything from the presents table, to the bourbon bar found their way to a calligraphed signage announcement ... there was even an Instagram hashtag reminder for guests!

The Swan House wedding venue in the Buckhead neighborhood in Atlanta is the kind of storied old home people write books about ... literally, go pick up the eponymous book!

When Atlanta wedding planner Ashley Monroe approached me to help create a classic, Southern suite for a her couple's Swan House wedding underneath the historic venue's magnolias and pines, I flipped a lid just a smidge. Twist my arm, why don't ya? It only made sense for envelope liners to be magnolia-decked, and soft brown ink with plenty of flourishing made for a beautiful wedding calligraphy suite, if I do say so myself. Shauna Veasey Photography captured everything perfectly ... especially that diamond.

Katherine's the one that took me under her wing when I first started at a full-service communication firm in Atlanta: she was the seasoned vet at the firm who showed me the ropes! Years passed, and when she called me to help out with her wedding to Kevin, I was elated. The wedding venue at The Estate in Buckhead, Atlanta is one  of my favorite wedding ceremony and reception venues in Atlanta, and Katherine's the first person I ever knew who was obsessed with Downton Abbey: Suffice it to say this classy, black tie affair would have made the Crawley family pleased.

For a family I grew up down the street from, I'd do anything—it helped that my sister, brother-in-law, and husband were all in this wedding! The engagement party hostesses reached out about a custom wedding logo to have printed on cups for the party, and sweet bride-to-be Jessica loved it so much that she requested to use it again at the wedding reception after her First Baptist Church of Montgomery wedding.

A reception at the home of the bride shot by my own wedding photographer Holland Williams Photography was such a winner ... and yes, we still have some of the cups tucked in the cupboards that my husband and I snagged for to-go waters after a night on the dance floor!

Okay, confession: this "wedding" is ... drumroll ... a styled shoot! My friend Jackie Hites of Blooming Hites wedding floral company reached out about a wedding invitation suite design for The Chimneys at Big Canoe wedding venue.

A chilly, wintery day and north Georgia wedding setting were calling for deckled edges (that's fancy for "torn") juxtaposed with formal copperplate calligraphy in antique gold and charcoal grey—topped with a gold wax seal, of course. Sydney Bruton Photography, based here in Atlanta, shot our styled shoot and I'm still craving the peppermint mocha from the cocktail hour portion of our shoot!

Atlanta wedding planner Ashley Monroe had a couple with a Serenbe wedding in mind, a farm estate just south of Atlanta in the rolling countryside ... and Serenbe is the perfect wedding venue for a couple who likes things high-end but laid back.

With that in mind, I created a marbelized wedding invitation suite with a modern calligraphy font in hand-mixed gold ink. Atlanta wedding photographer Shauna Veasey Photography and I got to partner again for these. I'm starting to think that Shauna's idea to always have a Mrs. Box on hand for weddings she shoots is a good idea, right? So dreamy.

Nancy Ray of Nancy Ray Photography had been on my dream client list ... so when she reached out about funnel mapping and launch copy for her Foundations in Film course, I was beside myself! "I was pretty overwhelmed with the entire process of creating copy for my sales page," Nancy said. "I knew it was important, but I didn't even know where to begin." We whittled off a sales page, defined the course name, and mapped out a 10-part email sequence with copy for Nancy's pre-webinar and post-webinar sequences.

"My biggest fear was that this would be a waste of money, but I learned hiring Ashlyn saved so much of my time, and actually made more money. The girl knows what she's doing!" Results? The day I got an inquiry from this business made me grin: I can't count how many days I sat at  my corporate PR agency desk years ago, thumbing through Laura Hooper Calligraphy's Instagram and dreaming about the day I would get to have a creative business.

My Brand Story clients get access to my retainer hours after we work together the first time, so after we worked together to write Laura Hooper Calligraphy's brand messaging and website copy, calligrapher Laura Hooper and her business manager (and sister!) Alyssa Law hired AW for welcome sequence, sales funnel copywriting, and Facebook ad copywriting.

Results? My own mother called to tell me she had just made a purchase from their business after getting a string of emails from LHC ... without knowing I wrote the funnel. If my copy sold my own mother, I'll call that a win.

Oh, Jenna: What started as conversation swapped over jalapeño margaritas at Illume Retreat morphed into 3 course launch copywriting projects and monthly retainer hour work. Photographer and educator Jenna Kutcher first brought me on to tweak her launch copy for The Instagram Lab, and after that launch skyrocketed, she brought me on for The Photo Lab.

We went from $145,000 to $397,000 in sales with tighter launch strategy and launch copy ... touchdown! The List to Launch Lab email marketing course was next, and fearless leader Jenna keeps driving up those numbers. She's a marketing mind match and soul sister for me, so we really get to let launch sequences splinter and spider off a million directions, which is fun.

She wore the coolest sparkly outfits in junior high complete with Candies platforms (remember those!?) so suffice to say my girl crush on Crystal Strickland of Southern Posies started way on back in the hallways of Trinity Presbyterian School: I couldn’t be more excited to help the Southern Posies team with brand messaging and website copy.

“I want it to feel like someone’s grabbed a cup of coffee and curled up on my couch when they read my website,” she'd said.  Crystal’s grandfather was a prize rose gardener and I used to rifle through vintage and antique furniture in her parent’s shop … is it any surprise she now dreams up designs as a wedding planner?

Katelyn James is another one of those clients who's face was pinned to my vision board. I've looked up to her photography business for so long, and was feet-off-the-ground when I found out she wanted to work with me!

For Katelyn, deliverables included all the pieces she needed for the KJ Posing Course and the KJ Consistency Course launches ... including getting them ready for evergreen. I wrote sales pages and email sequencing galore, and Katelyn had this to say: "You're amazing. I just need you to describe EVERYTHING I create. K? K."

Within two weeks we sold 200 seats to the membership and Ashlyn's copywriting helped us get to our goal.

I had worked with Heather Crabtree as a coach for my own business, and she was ramping up to open doors on her private, paid membership community for the first time. The Savvy Business Community needed a sales page that helped coax members of the 10K+ Facebook group into a paid membership that offered more tailored training and supportive community insight away from the hustle of the Facebook feed.

"My biggest challenge prior to my launch was finding the right words to showcase all that my membership experience offered. I knew the features, but sharing to my audience in my voice but in a way that resonated with them and they could say 'That's me' and had them saying yes to registering was somewhat difficult for me," she said. "It was like Ashlyn transformed into me and said everything I wanted to say about the membership, but better!" 

The Savvy Business Community sales page I wrote for Heather is one of my favorites I've crafted ... mostly due to how Irene at Magnoliahouse Creative took my copy and made it visually compelling. Go check it out!

My client Jenna Kutcher's husband Drew was taking his dreams full-time, launching The Kutcher Method to support creative entrepreneurs on the path to getting healthy. Drew didn't want a full encyclopedia's worth of website copy: "we just want really impactful headlines and blurbs," he said. We hashed out website copy to hand over to the Tonic Site Shop team, who handled design work for the project.

Verdict? A tight new website that got Drew started building his business and client roster ... with copy that subconsciously sold me in the process: Drew's 20-minute workouts are a lifesaver on mornings I can't make it to the gym!

Kelsey Bladwin of Paper & Oats had been a girl-crush of mine for a while, and out of the blue, I got an email from her as she was looking to relaunch her website, shifting her offerings from freelance design to course creation and educational products.

Kelsey worked through the Copywriting for Creatives curriculum, but through one-on-one mentorship sessions, we took things a bit deeper to determine her internal brand messaging, how to position her brand, and then how to get that all across on her website.
