Whoop! We’re almost done with another Copywriting for Creatives™ launch week around here! I’ve written about launch plans, launch copy checklists, and planning a marketing campaign, but whatever. Let’s talk about something fun today. 🙂 How to actually ~survive~ launch week.

launch survival guide ashlyn writes launch copywriter

For the uninitiated, a launch week feels like a mash-up of Christmas and exam week: I don’t care if you’re launching a new (or old steady!) product or service, a new website, or a brand re-design—at least for me, it’s that kismet combo of nerves and excitement …

… and deep sighs of “ahhhhh” when it’s all done.

We do our own launch (aka fancy word for “marketing promotion period”) about once a quarter here, with my Copywriting for Creatives™ program enrollment period only launching two of those times. I’m also a multiple six-figure launch copywriter … I learned the hard way that I have to cap the number of 1-on-1 launch clients I take on because the stress is too next level for my liking. I need breaks!

“You have no compassion on my poor nerves,” Mrs. Bennet said in Pride & Prejudice.

Alas, launches don’t have much compassion either, but these things do. 😉

Today, I had some fun in Slack—I asked my tiny-but-mightly team what they lean on to get us through our six-figure launches, and here’s what we said!

Purederm Collagen Eye Mask Pads, $4 for 60 – After a few nights of staying up to get everything ready, I’m not feeling so bright-eyed. I pop these on while I’m drying my hair in the morning—they’re SO cheap on Amazon, and make such a difference! If these are bad for me shhhhhh, I don’t want to know.

Beauty Counter Charcoal Face Mask, $49 – Sarah’s go-to! I like it too, but this week can’t get enough of these 24-pack of sheet masks I got from Amazon … can you tell I recently raided a beauty blogger’s blog?

Capri Volcano Candle, $26 – DUH. Kate on my team likes the Bath & Body Works Vanilla Bean ones, and I’ve been burning the Volcano candle that Kerry on my team gifted me … you know, the Anthro candle.

Ethernet Cord, $10 – So I (Ashlyn, hi!) submitted this one. I learned the hard way that if you’re teaching online or hosting lives, a mere WiFi blink can mean lost sales … or just a string of NSFW words when you disconnect from 500 people on a live webinar. Not that I know that first-hand or anything. 😉 Hardwire in, y’all! I also really like that lamely named diva ring thing

Vineyard Vines Shep Pullover, starting at $96 – A couple of us have these! Cozy for calls. I try to wear “real” clothes during a launch week since I’m popping on lives and doing so much video content, but keep this souvenir pullover from last year’s Kentucky Derby by me in the office.

Massages – Three of us chimed in with this suggestion! I’m a gift-card hoarder, and if I EVER get a massage gift card, I usually save it for one of my 4 big busy business seasons. Close second? These Teak & Twine gift boxes. Torrence is an alum of my Copywriting for Creatives curriculum, and makes a KILLER box!

The Miracle TimeCube Timer, $20 – I talk about FocusKeeper, the free app, a lot, but this is the cheap-o hard plastic physical version. So fabulous.

The Joyful Garden Planner, $35 – A long day typing = if I don’t get in the sunshine I’ll go NUTS. Gardening is my new I’m-definitely-30-years-old hobby, and spending 30 minutes at the end of the day watering plants and even planting a few things since it’s spring is clutch. My friend Amber makes this sweet journal!

Fresh Start for Moms, $10 – THIS JOURNAL! Mindset stuff is huge during a promo-period, and I’ve found I have to daily remind myself of what’s *really* enough, despite the noisy world. My first launch with a 4-mo.-old also means a little bit more of a rushed morning routine, so I’ve enjoyed this from my friend Val to quickly center my soul on Jesus.

Simple & Blush Hair Ribbon, $15 – You guys were so sweet to ask about a few of my hair-do’s—basically I needed to get my hair away from my face and brought back some 90s girl realness with the scrunchies and bows. Instagram ad targeting for the win … I have no idea anything about this brand but they were great.

Honey & Tea Forte Teas, $29 – My dear friend Abby has sent me honey or tea twice now. Such a relief after hours of talking!

My Spring Spotify Playlists – I HAVE to pump myself up before live workshops … especially after the 4th+ time I’m teaching! My go-to is “Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone, but we were joking around on the team before the last workshop, and Janet Jackson “Everywhere I Go” made an appearance. 😉

Oh, and always mainstays that I probs talk about way too much (my Simplified Planner, Powersheets, Beats by Dre [seriously, I wear these I think 30% of the entire week, every week], my French market bag, silk eyemask, etc.) are constantly by my side. What can I say, I’m a total creature of habit.

Those are the things I’ve been diving into as I walk into my own medicine of working from a place of rest … but LOVING the work! Launches are so stinking fun to me.

While you’re here, enjoy the freebie goodness that is launch week: watch some fun videos and lives, grab the freebie copy checklist below, and be sure to check out Copywriting for Creatives to see if it’s a community and program that will suit your needs before doors close—they open 2x/year and close Wednesday at midnight!
